MailingLists

MHVLUG Hosts a number of mailing lists for public use. As a spam prevention method, in order to post to any of the e-mail lists you must be subscribed to that list. The open source Sympa mailing list program powers our lists. In order to sign up to any of the lists go to http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo and create an account. From there you can sign up to the lists listed below.

Mailing List Rules

When posting to the mailing list, make sure to adhere to the following rules:

  1. Send only plain text email (text/plain MIME type)
  2. Keep your lines less than 80 characters wide

  3. Don't start a new email to the list by replying to an unrelated post (known as thread stealing), as this screws up thread tracking in the archives
  4. Quote selectively in replies, i.e., cut out the bits of the previous message that aren't getting replied to
  5. Include your reply after the relevant quoted text (a.k.a "bottom-posting")

Available Lists

A very low traffic list that announcements about MHVLUG events are sent.

officers (at) mhvlug (dot) org

This is an easy to access mail alias to contact the officers of MHVLUG. No posts have been made to this list since about 2004. All our business is done on the mhvlug list, so if you have a suggestion it is better to send it there than here.

An announcement only list for the sole purpose of notifying its members of new releases of the linux kernel. Automated checks are performed once every four hours and posts are made only when there are new versions of stable branches.
