Linux Fest
From MHVLUG
Linux Fest is an opportunity to get together with other MHVLUG members to work on open source projects, get help configuring your linux, or just learn through immersion from the MHVLUG community. We used to call these things Linux Help Days, but in reality just as many folks were comming to work on their own Linux related project while being around friends and experts that might be able to help. People are still welcome to bring Linux install and configuration issues, but we wanted the scope of what gets done to be larger.
It is also about getting to know your peers in the Linux Users Group, and being able to share expertise and knowledge in a very informal environment.

How Do I get there?
First this google map will get you to the entrance to get into the campus
Then, this campus map will get you to the right building. (note, the campus map is West up, not North up)
- SUNY Campus Flash Map - you can zoom in to find more detail
- SUNY Campus PDF Map - for printing
- If you are coming from Route 299, turn left onto Route 32. On the right, you will pass Plattekill Avenue which is the first entrance to the college. Take the next right onto Mohonk Avenue East. Go straight, and you can park in the lot to the right of Resnick Engineering Building. Go past the back of the Resnick Building past the mobile trailers. Past the bushes is the Coykendall Science Building. The LinuxHelpDay is on the main floor in the Faculty Lounge Rm 110 (first room to the right of the entrance). If the outside doors are locked, bang on the window to your right to let us know you're locked out.
- We will have a few carts to move your equipment if you need one.
What to Bring
If you want help with your computer, you should bring that, monitor, keyboard, and all.
We'll have copies of Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) for Intel/AMD 32bit available for people to take.
A number of Linux Books will be brought to the install fest as well. People are welcome to read through them during the install fest, and even borrow some of them if they promise to write reviews! :)
After the Help Day
Post Help Day, anyone that is interested is invited to join us at a local restaurant (TBD) for dinner and drinks.
